Soil Washing

The requirement to wash apparently “clean” materials primarily arises in the construction industry where there are now strong incentives to recycle building materials rather than send them to landfill. The process involves crushing and sorting old building materials, washing the resulting aggregate and adjusting the ph balance before re-using the material in concrete batching plants for new construction.

The wash water inevitably contains a very high proportion of fine particulate matter - silts and clays - which need to be removed before the water can be re-used in the washing process. OPS process design reviews can lead to significant improvements to existing plant and improve throughput by subtle changes to flows and chemical treatment regimes.

A new OPS Lamella separator retro-fitted to a client’s existing aggregate washing plant for more efficient removal of solids.

OPS designs and supplies complete new aggregate washing and sorting plants or modifies existing plant to improve separation efficiency and throughput. Plants can be designed for fixed installations or for mobile applications where kit is moved from site to site.
